My favorite dinner place in SD. It sits on the water overlooking the city skyline. Great for seafood and service is great. Cozy, posh, lively atmosphere without being stuffy. Side note, good spot to propose! (I did :))

I came here during San Diego Restaurant Week this year and the experience was unique. The service is very quick - I feel like they have someone constantly walking around and sending feedback to the servers when someone is done with their food since our courses came out pretty quickly after we finished each one. The view is amazing - the ocean is on one side and the SD skyline is on the other. It was perfect for watching the sunset.

A beautiful restaurant by the San Diego bay with awesome views of the city skyline with the Coronado Bridge in the background! The food is exquisite and the service is very accommodating! I highly recommend it!

I eat in this spot a lot since I work nearby. I must say the customer service is always awesome and they keep the spot neat regularly. Prices are reasonable and they serve large portions.

Customer service/servers are the best! Food was scrumptious! One food worth mentioning that comes to mind is the green beans. If you order it a la cart, it's enough for 2 people to share with. It was flavored so well that I almost ate it all myself. Nice wine selection. They is a separate bar section connected in the same restaurant so you can chill or wait for your table. Call in ahead of time for reservations is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. The view was from the Shelter Island near the airport side over looking the bay & towards Harbor Drive with a mesmerizing skyline view of downtown & the Star of India. Just go. You'll feel like royalty if you let yourself be.

The hostesses and the servers were super nice and friendly. They graciously seated us next to the window and made us a small cheesecake dessert for our anniversary. Our waiter was friendly too, although he was a little slow to take our orders and bring us our bill.

Delicious food, beautiful city skyline views, excellent service. The spicy fig jam, served alongside the creamiest brie I have ever had, was a great start to dinner. The Maine scallops were perfectly seared and the pork belly served with them accentuated their slightly sweet taste. And the mud pie for dessert was delicious and huge. It could easily be shared amongst 3 or 4 adults. We happened to go with a large group (this is one of the few places that would take reservations for a group of 20+ without menu adaptations) and all the orders were correct and served at the same time. Every single dish I tasted was delicious. There happened to be a full moon as well that evening. It was just a great night, start to finish.

Awesome location on the water in Shelter Island. Great food and good waiting staff. Inside is pretty dark so keep that in mind. This is expensive and many options are a la carte. If you have a deal, gift card or they have a special dining menu, I would recommend.

The view and the atmosphere was amazing. The host was quite unwelcoming to us. The service was good along with their breads. I personally think that the sea bass was quite bland. If you're looking for a place with a nice view and relaxing atmosphere this is for you if anywhere is fine with you.

Great view actually Sir clevrl. Handicapped parking full. Had to literally roll across the entire parking lot. That's why the 3 stars. Food and service good.

Good food, but terrible management. We waited an hour and a half to be seated. Checked on status after 45 minutes. Eventually a bartender got us some help. They had our pager assigned to someone else...dont know why that made it better...were the other people waiting 1 1/2 hours too? Once seated, service was slow. Checked on it after 35 minutes or so and was told there was a "delay in the kitchen" . We spent nearly 4 hours there for dinner. Cost was over $150 for 2 of us. 1 drink each, and 2 steak dinners. Will not go back.

Had a New Years Eve dinner here. The view is the best in the evening, right on the water. The food was pretty good overall. The fig and blue cheese tart was so good!! The lobster bisque was probably the best ever. The filet mignon was great and cooked really nice. The salmon meal was a bit dry and disappointing and the Korean beef tartare wasn’t so good either. They serve you bread and it tasted so good but it was the hardest thing to eat. It was literally hard. Crumbs everywhere. Dessert wasn’t anything special. Very average.

The food is fantastic here. The drinks are awesome with a great wine selection. The views are phenomenal and the caller is very convenient. However, the service here is surprising show and inattentive for the price point. At any other price point I'd say it was great, but for this quality of restaurant, it is very disappointing. The staff was all very helpful and nice, but it was tough to find them when you needed them. A few orders came out wrong and took a bit of time to correct.

I have been to many steakhouses and most of them had something to complaint about.When it comes to Island Prime, there is nothing to complaint about. The view is amazing, the food is amazing and the service is top notch. What else is there to complain about? Reservations are highly recommended. You can grab a drink or 2 while waiting for your table. You can enjoy the view of downtown while enjoying your food.

I’m normally not super impressed with nice restaurants. Food is food in my book. But Island Prime was simply outstanding!Every course was amazing. The crab cake appetizer was the best crab cakes I’ve ever tasted. I’m a big fan of Phillips on the East Coast, but these were so good. The salad, the brussel sprouts, and the tuna were cooked perfectly. I even tried my co-workers steak - good decision on my part. The bread was good. Everything was good. The view of the harbor at night and the service added to the experience. I can’t say enough good about Island Prime - if you have the time, make it fit in your schedule - you won’t be disappointed. Take this fat boy’s word for it.

Food was excellent! Request James as a waiter... very helpful, knows his wine and very friendly! The negatives are for a prime New York strip should never have a tendon in the middle, marbling yes... but never a section of tendon which this steak should not have. The calamari app was huge and outstanding!

I enjoyed the family time that I had in this restaurant last week. It was also a good thing that I wasn't the only one who enjoyed the ambiance and the food because my husband and my kids surely did also. Celebrated our 30th, wedding anniversary on New Years eve. I made reservations, had to change 3 times. The Management team made every effort to ensure we had a table with a window view and they came thru. The service, food and view was excellent. I would highly recommend this Restaurant to everyone. Thank you for making our night special.

Quite simply the best steak I've ever had!!! We all chose the 14oz New York Strip with sides to share of Beans, Fries and most amazing Mushrooms! I paired mine with a nice Spanish red. There was an excellent wine list and quite a reasonable menu with more value orientated options as well. The views were amazing and service was excellent. I think I'll definitely be returning to try the Waygu/Angus steak. Well done team!

This a an amazing restaurant, with exceptional food, an amazing staff, and an exquisite view. The restaurant offers a fine section of fish, seafood, and steaks, however I went with the chicken. The exterior was crispy and delicious, but the interior still juicy and succulent. The potatoes, soft, expertly spiced, made a fine addition to the dish. The creamed spinach so delectable that my mouth is watering just thinking about it. And the mud pie... I can not give high enough praise to this mud pie.

What a nice place. It's a treat to visit a relatively high-end restaurant and be treated to high-end service - and from what I could see every wait staff in the place was well trained and perfect for the job. Another place with an unpretentious menu - not overwhelming, just right, and every selection perfect. I had a BLT salad, basically a wedge salad, and this chicken dish that was one of the most interesting and tasty recipes I've enjoyed in a long time . The view is stunning .... the crowd is nice, the atmosphere great and a place I'd go back to in a heartbeat.

I wanted a nice place to propose and the Island Prime was perfect!! The staff was great at helping out with the flowers I had delivered and even gave us a free dessert! The view is amazing and after dinner we went in to C level for a cocktail on the open patio! We will definitely be back anytime we are in San Diego. Thanks Island Prime!!!!

I wish there were more places like this around town. The service here is above par. Bring your appetite because portions are generous. Reminds me of a cafe in Chicago I liked to visit.

I’m giving this place 3 stars, no way it’s a 4 or 5 star place. Booked open table reservation only for them not able to find it. Host stand highly disorganized. Waitress was great, food not so much. I had pork ship with outer crust was overcooked and inside was undercooked. The macaroni and cheese was gross.

We walked in without a reservation at 4:30 pm and were given a table for 3 with a dramatic view of the San Diego skyline as the sun went down and the city lights came on. The lobster bisque was delicious. We had 3 kinds of crème Brule for dessert. Island Prime combines reliably delicious food with an spectacular view of the San Diego skyline. The service was excellent, I like a lot the food, it was delicious and I like a lot the location because you can see the sea.

The view is spectacular & the drinks are really good & the food is good but the temperature on how you like your meat cooked wasn't good but the manager was very helpful & friendly & fixed it but when I go to a nice restaurant like this there shouldn't be any flaws & how you ask the first time should be right but it's okay still had fun & enjoyed the food (the second time) & enjoyed the yummy drinks!
